“I have an idea,” I confided to a friend over coffee. “It’s been something I’ve been wanting to try for a while.”

We were sitting in the corner of a local grocery store dining area, empty except for us and a brand-new dream — “What if there was a business that offered party kit rentals? Decor and dining ware for small events and, as a bonus, didn’t require any clean up?” 

That last part was key — as moms, we knew what a party meant for us: hours of dishes and tidying up.

I continued, “We could provide the decor, plates, silverware, etc., and then also set it up so that the host simply puts everything back in the box and returns it to us. We clean it all up and get the kit ready to be re-rented…

“Fancy china. Cloth napkins. Unique experiences. Custom table scaping for every event.”

What a beautiful idea:

• How many times had I spent a lot on party decor that I only used once?

• How many people want to spend a solid grand on a complete dining set for one beautiful meal?

• Aren’t we all sick to death of cheap plastic everything for birthday parties?

• Who keeps beautiful china on hand anymore?

• Who wants to spend their evening scrubbing plates when they could simply be sitting with their loved ones and enjoying the moment, turning it into a memory?

“I love it!” She responded.

Thus, we embarked on the journey of starting our company, Classy Kits.

A labor of love — Two friends gathering and putting the kits together, getting licensed, endless inventory checking, and finally ready to open our doors, just in time for Christmas.
